Namaste. I'm Tonya and I am a Charlotte-based meditation coach, breathwork practitioner, and yoga instructor (RYT-200). I utilize a gentle, self-realizing, trauma-informed approach to teaching yoga. I am passionate about teaching yin yoga because it's a way to tap into our body's natural healing properties. Yin yoga is a quiet practice of mostly floor postures held for longer periods of time. Yin poses target the connective tissue, fascia, and joints of your low back, pelvis, hips, and thighs.
I am honored to serve as an advocate for creating spaces for BIPOC that are inclusive and safe, particularly when it comes to holistic wellness. I also enjoy teaching Hatha, vinyasa and chair yoga, and love the challenge of making sure yoga is accessible for all body types.
Tonya's home studio is Total Being Yoga in Mint Hill, NC.
This solo trip to the Sedona was life changing. I had time to enjoy a hike, walk, nap, mingle, sunbathe, swim, soak, book a private yoga session, a sound healing, sightsee, and enjoy the people.
My favorite part was spending time on the Navajo reservation and visiting Buffalo Canyon.

How could I pass up this opportunity to embark on a journey of self-discovery and adventure, while encountering exotic animals in a South African safari? This retreat was hosted by Ekam Wellness and it's gracious and beautiful owner, Nicole. The expert guides and hospitality at Honeyguide Ranger Camp was absolutely amazing!
I was able to immerse myself in yoga while also exploring the natural beauty of the bush on an unforgettable safari. This was an opportunity for me to step outside of my comfort zone, challenge myself, and grow as a person.
Practicing yoga and mindfulness, with a focus on nature and environmental responsibility, encourages us to be more mindful of our impact on the environment.

Healing Empowerment Retreats is one of many programs offered by Women at the Well and its heart-centered Founder & Executive Director, Hannah Broome. These powerful retreats help women impacted by trauma find resources while also receiving support. In addition to workshops and educational opportunities, Healing Empowerment Retreats (HER) offers women the opportunity to try a variety of stress-relief treatment modalities, such as yoga, art and music therapy, experiences in nature, and more. These retreats offer a trusted safe place to empower our women towards an empowered life of resilience, and hope. What an amazing opportunity to lead the yoga sessions and participate in the conference, as well.
